Oosyoos’ Tumbleweed Distillery has released a new whisky paying tribute to firefighters with a portion of all sales going towards the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF).

The CFFF conducts the memorial ceremony each year to Honour, Remember and Support Canada’s fallen firefighters and their families through several initiatives including scholarships benefiting their children and spouses.

“This is an amazing opportunity to purchase this collectible whisky and support the CFFF at the same time. Many thanks again to Tumbleweed Spirits,” said Wayne Jasper – CFFF Ambassador and former Deputy Fire Chief at the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department (AMFD).

Mike Patterson, Distillery Owner, Tumbleweed Distilling expressed his appreciation for the selfless work firefighters do to protect communities.. “We are incredibly honoured to offer our humble support to those who put others ahead of their own lives when battling fires in the Okanagan Valley and across Canada. It’s been a pleasure to collaborate on such a special project,” he said.

The limited edition UNFORGETTABLE Canadian Whisky has been desert-aged for 3.5 years, offering a “sweet backbone of fruity flavours complemented by strong notes of rye spice, vanilla, and caramel,” according to Patterson, adding it’s perfect for sipping or classic cocktails.

The arid environment of the South Okanagan is perfect for barrel-aging spirits, according to Tumbleweed. “Intense dry heat encourages whisky to dive deep into the pores of newly made barrels, while the intense cold in winter months aggressively releases the liquid back into the cask.”

The 2024 Canadian Firefighter Memorial Ceremony will be held in Ottawa at the Canadian Firefighter Memorial on the Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m. The 2024 Honorary Host will be the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association.
