April 9, 1932 – December 26, 2023

Hans was born at the family home in Osoyoos on April 9, 1932. The apricot trees were blooming. He joined his parents Max and Hennie – recent immigrants from Europe – and his brother Fritz. The Kohler family later welcomed another son, Karl. Hans lived his entire life within 15 miles of the spot he was born – always with a view of Chopaka. The rapid growth and changes during his time in the Okanagan – Similkameen were photographed by his mother and later donated to the local museum. As a kid, his big adventure was to ride his bicycle to Oroville. He continued exploring, eventually visiting every province in Canada, and every state in the USA – plus 60 additional countries. He had many fond memories of traveling with local friends. Family left to remember the good times include; Linda, his loving wife of 54 years; her family that welcomed Hans with open hearts; four children and their spouses; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
