December 31, 1942 – December 20, 2023

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Mr. Antonio Silvestre Chora of Oliver passed away peacefully after a short battle with lung cancer surrounded by family and friends at Moog & Friends Hospice House in Penticton at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased by his brother, Jose Chora; sisters, Margarita Lima and Maria Dos Anjos Pereira and nephew, Joey Chora. Tony will be fondly remembered by his loving family including son, Dean Chora (Tina); granddaughter, Taylor Chora; nephews, Joe Lima (Bernadette), Ken Chora (Cathy), Tony Lima (Marly), Manuel Chora, Glenn Chora (Christine), Gary Pereira (Deana); niece, Margaret Machado (Joe) and sister-in-law, Maria Chora. Tony was born in Santa Cruz, Sao Miguel, Azores before immigrating to Canada. He worked in many occupations including, agriculture, construction, drilling, mining, railroads and then ran his own landscaping business. He had many interests and one was volunteering his time as a Director with the South Okanagan Portuguese Club. He will be dearly missed by many friends and family. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Tompkins at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Urn interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery with a reception hosted by the CWL in the church lower hall to follow the interment.
