South Okanagan General Hospital’s emergency department will shut down temporarily overnight due to limited physician availability.

Interior Health reports the department will close from 10 p.m. tonight (Saturday) to 8 a.m. Sunday. However, all other inpatient services will continue as normal.

During the shutdown, patients who need to access the emergency department are advised to seek care at Penticton Regional Hospital.

Interior Health says people who need life-threatening emergency care (for example, chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should call 911 for transport to the nearest available facility.
