Mary Elizabeth Hopkins
Elizabeth Hopkins (Tibert), age 92, of Osoyoos, BC, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2023 at Penticton Regional Hospital.
Mary was born April 27, 1930 in Little River, Nova Scotia, the fourth of five children of the late Emden and Velma Tibert. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ray, Sophia and baby Hope, her brother Malcolm and her husband, Don Hopkins.
Mary is survived by her three children Sue Berlie (Ron), Bill Hopkins (Doreen) and Tom Hopkins (Shawn Bell), her beloved niece Olivia Ross, nephews Edward Ross and Steve, Dave and Jim McCargar, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was a force to be reckoned with. She lived her life with determination, grit and a unique sense of humour, which carried her through a dozen moves (with young children!) across the continent throughout her marriage with Don. Mary had a deep love for dogs and found companionship with many furry friends. She enjoyed gardening, painting, playing the organ, knitting for her grandkids and golfing with Don and friends.
Above all, Mary was a loving and reliable presence in the life of her husband, Don. She was his fierce advocate through his many illnesses, and her unwavering support gave him the strength to keep fighting through seven cancer diagnoses and dementia.
Special thanks to Dr. Calder for his dedication and to the staff at Mariposa Gardens for their kindness and care in Mary’s last years.
No service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
“And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much.”
