The Osoyoos Secondary School (OSS) Rattlers are storming their way through the ongoing “Rattler Rumble” Senior Girls volleyball tournament with a 3 and 0 record on the first day of tournament play Friday, Nov. 4.
The Rattlers handily won two straight sets each against Keremeos, Barriere, and Revelstoke on Friday afternoon.

John Seminoff, Senior Girls Volleyball Asst. Coach at OSS said this would put the Rattlers in either first or second place in the round-robin with one two-set match still to play late Friday afternoon. Playoffs for the tournament start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The Rattler Rumble is an annual event – in non-pandemic years – held every first weekend in November.
Last year’s provincial championship team saw only four players returning this year because of the outflow of Grade 12 players, with Seminoff chuckling, “we are very Grade 11 dominant,” this year. But he adds that the Junior Girls’ team that moved up from last year “was a very strong team”.
Because of the size, OSS is only differentiated as a single “A” school but competes against double, triple, and quad “A” schools. Despite this, the OSS Junior Girls held their own last year performing well against the higher-ranked schools.
As for the Senior Girls’ team, “I won’t say we’re as strong as last year but we are definitely good. The goal is definitely to get back to provincials again this year,” he added.
The playoff matches are played throughout the day on Saturday at three venues: Osoyoos Secondary School, Osoyoos Elementary School, and the Sonora Centre.
