Clifford Allen Larsen
It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce that Clifford Allen Larsen (Al, Butch, Big Al, Papa, Grampa, Gramps, Dad) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022…as he had predicted. Al had previously predicted this occurrence a number of times to no avail. Al was 80 years young.
Al was the beloved husband and best best friend of Shirley Anne Larsen for 59 years. Al is survived by his dog, Mac; daughter, Tamara Walker (Dave) of Calgary; son, Ron Larsen (Jen) of Revelstoke; daughter, Shelly Covert (Gene) of Oliver and grandchildren, Darrian, Reegan, Alexis, Josh, Kaelan, Faolan and Rhya; brother, Bob Larsen of Leduc; sisters-in-law, Margaret Waechter of Langley, Doreen (Albert LeComte) of Penticton, Bernice Larsen of Wetaskiwin, Judi Harper of Millet; brother-in-law, Allan, many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Vicki and Cliff Larsen; stepmother, Phil Larsen, sister, Barb Wood, brother, Willard Larsen; brother’s-in-law, Mervin and Chuck; sister-in-law Joanne, and many of his cherished friends.
All who met Al knew of his great presence and ability to find one hell of a deal. Al had a huge heart and loved all of his grandchildren dearly. He loved good food, a fine glass of red wine…or two or three, loved playing golf and watching all sports. Al was a die hard Calgary fan even when it wasn’t cool. Al played a prominent role in the Kinsmen club in Wetaskiwin for many years. He spent time as president and DDG and was awarded a lifetime membership. He also took great pride in helping organize North Am in Wetaskiwin. Al (Twinkle Toes Larsen) was an amazing dancer and a lover of music. Wherever there was a party you would find Al centre stage dancing or pulling one of his famous pranks. Al and Shirley have spent the past 5 years together soaking up the sun and golfing in Oliver BC. Al took his WSET Level One to work at his daughter and son-in-law’s winery which he enjoyed immensely. He was happy to spend his days chatting with customers and talking wine. One of Al’s retirement highlights was working a summer with his two eldest grandsons in the wine shop.
Al will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oliver, BC on Friday, October 7th, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life at Covert Farms Family Estate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Al’s name to the charity of your choice.
