Margaret “Marge” Rose Hagel passed away suddenly on June 9th, 2022 at the Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 76 years.
She was predeceased by her parents; Ruth and Ted Mikolas and brother; David Mikolas.
Marge will be fondly remembered by her loving husband of 57 years; George Hagel, daughter; Tammy (Hagel) Vesper (husband Cory), son; Mike Hagel (Annina), grandchildren; Hannah, Alex (Logan Clarke), Bailey, Melissa, Jennifer, Marshall and Ethan, and great-granddaughter, Codi. She is also survived by siblings; Alice Hewitt, Ken Mikolas, Shiela Lange, Terry Culpepper and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Marge worked as a Legal Secretary in Calgary before becoming the secretary for the family’s own company in Oliver, “Oliver Solar Electric.” Aside from her professional work, Margaret was an avid volunteer in her community. She sat on the board for the Oliver Credit Union, was a “Tawny Owl” for the local Brownies and helped out with the Oliver Skating Club. When Oliver hosted the BC Winter Games, Marge was happy to jump on board and be a hostess.
Faith was very important to Marge. She was proud to have been baptized, confirmed and married in the same Lutheran congregation. She was an active member in the Lutheran Ladies Aide, helping out wherever needed.
One of Marge greatest passions was sewing; she was an amazing Seamstress. She sewed Tammy’s grad dress, her wedding dress, 5 bridesmaid dresses and 2 flower girl dresses! The proud grandma also loved to sew many matching dresses for her grand-daughters. Recently, Marge helped sew 100’s of quilts for children around the world with her Lutheran Ladies Quilting group.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday June 23, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church followed by a time of fellowship in the church reception hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations graciously accepted for the Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
