Collaboration between a housing developer and a member of Town staff has resulted in a “fantastic” proposal, according to one councillor.
“Wow, this is fantastic,” said Dave Mattes, referring to a townhouse development that was reduced in size to eliminate any variances previously requested.
The developer originally proposed to build seven townhouse units at 491 Salamander Avenue but wanted to decrease the side parcel line setback from six metres to 3.3 metres.
A reduction in amenity space was also proposed.
Some members of council expressed concerns with these variances and suggested the design be changed to accommodate six units.
Mattes thanked Director of Development Services Randy Houle for doing an outstanding job in working with the developer to give council virtually everything it asked for.
Council gave first and second reading to the bylaw and has set a public hearing date for Feb. 14.
