RUTH BAUDER (nee POHL)

September 23, 1925 -
November 25, 2021

It is with great sorrow that we share that Ruth Bauder passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 25 at the age of 96 years in Abbotsford, B.C.

Ruth was born on September 23, 1925 in Pontoville, Sask. to Jacob and Louisa Pohl.  She married her beloved Gus in 1947 and they spent their married life in Oliver where she worked in various packing houses and he operated Bauder’s Repair Shop.  They spent many fun times camping and fishing, and taking numerous casino trips once Dad retired.  She moved to Chilliwack, B.C. in 2008 to be closer to family.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Louisa Pohl, sisters Minnie Motz and Rose Eggeson, brothers Charley, Ernest and Ben Pohl (and their spouses), and by her husband Gus (G.J.) in 2003.  She is survived by her son Larry Bauder of Vancouver, B.C., daughter Doreen & husband Ken Keeley of Chilliwack, B.C., grandsons Dan & wife Mandy Keeley of Kimberley, B.C., and Michael Keeley of Abbotsford, B.C., great-grandchildren Dahlia, Nathan, and Ben Keeley; also sisters Georgianna Brimacombe and Loretta and her husband Gary Thrienen, brother-in-law Alex & wife Marie Bauder, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was always a gentle, caring person who loved her family dearly.  She loved to do jigsaw puzzles and handicrafts, especially needlepoint and cross-stitch, and always had a large garden whenever she could.  We will especially remember her cinnamon buns, cabbage rolls and Christmas cake.  Rest in peace, Mom, you will forever be in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday December 16, 2021 at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.  A service of remembrance will be held in Oliver in the spring of 2022.
