Norman Edward MacDonald

January 8, 1941 -
October 31, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Norman MacDonald passed away peacefully on the morning of October 31, 2021, in Oliver, B.C., at the age of 80 years.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean; father, Toivo; mother, Mary and sister, Judy.
Norman will be fondly remembered by his children; Mike (Sandra), Darcy (Ruth), Linda (Shaune), and April (Mel); his seven grandchildren, Erick, Matthew (Amy), Nicholas, Brody, Jordan, Emily and Sarah; brother, David; sister, Barb; as well as extended family and friends.
From an early age, Norman worked on the farm and oil rigs in Alberta until February, 1968. Upon moving to Oliver, he worked with Rapid Transfer and then for the Town of Oliver for the next 32 years until his retirement in September 2001. Norman enjoyed travelling with Jean and his kids to Alberta throughout the years. As they got older, it was just Jean and himself travelling in the fifth wheel. He was very creative with his woodworking skills and loved puttering around his workshop. When he wasn’t in the workshop puttering around, he would spend his time with Jean and the grandchildren.
Norm will always be remembered for his dedication to the Town of Oliver. Whenever the town streets needed to be cleaned or cleared of snow, residents would always see Norm out bright and early so the town could start its day. He loved to work on the backhoe or the grader and you would know it was him because he would be wearing his signature white hard hat and coveralls.
Thanks to the staff at Sunshine Ridge for the care and compassion for the six years he lived there. A special thanks to all the nursing, housekeeping, dietary and rec. dept staff at McKinney Place for the care and compassion given to Dad over the past few months there. Special thanks to John, Daryn and all the staff at Nunes-Pottinger for all their hard work and guidance throughout this difficult time.
