A group of motorcyclists from the Lower Mainland is mourning the death of one of their own after a tragic crash on Willowbrook Road on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Oliver RCMP reports that a group of friends was riding their motorcycles when one male rider caught the soft shoulder of the road just south of Patten Road. The rider was not able to regain control and crashed.

Corporal Paul Symons said fellow riders administered first aid immediately, but sadly the rider’s injuries were very severe. “Ambulance paramedics attended the scene but unfortunately the rider passed away,” he said.

Willowbrook Fire Chief Tony Iannella said the department responded and assisted with CPR.

Corporal Symons said the Oliver RCMP would like to acknowledge the assistance and professionalism provided by the Willowbrook Fire Department as the crew helped with first aid, diverted traffic and kept the scene safe and secure.
