The Oliver Fire Department is helping out crews on the White Rock Lake fire.

The department has sent one truck and crew to assist firefighting efforts between Kamloops and Vernon as part of a provincial agreement with BC Forestry.

Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said they feel confident that the Town of Oliver will still be protected despite losing one fire apparatus and crew.

Fire Chief Bob Graham agreed, saying it’s time for Oliver to help others.

“Other departments have been here helping us, now it is our turn to help someone else,” he said.
