November 4, 1931 to April 22, 2021

 

Oliver lost a beloved member

of the community on

April 22nd 2021 at the age

of 89 years old. Long time

resident Maria Wingelmann

passed away in the

Penticton Regional Hospital

after a short battle with

Covid.

Maria was born November 4, 1931 in Hungary

then later immigrated to Canada in 1957 during

the Hungarian Revolution.

While fleeing the war Maria met a handsome

soldier and fell in love with Joseph Wingelmann.

They were separated during the trek to Canada but

found each other many months later and wed. Together

they raised two beautiful children: Joseph Jr.

and Helen.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings,

2 sons (Louie and Joseph Jr.) and her beloved

husband, Joe, in 2003.

She is survived by her daughter Helen Leal (John),

3 grandchildren; Christina Leal (Chris), Marisa

Leal and Lisa Fenton (Doug), Great grandchildren:

Aryan, Zarhiya, Milicia, Catarina and Riley. Along

with many nieces and nephews.

Maria always had a warm smile and a friendly

word for everyone. She was an unbelievably kind

soul who loved her church community and all the

people in it.

She will be dearly missed by all and all can rest easy

knowing Maria is at peace and is dancing and chatting

with Jesus.
